NEW:
Navy League
assisting Navy family food pantry at every luncheon meeting

The Naval Base Ventura County’s USDA Fleet Reserve Food Program in conjunction with Food Share Ventura County, has been distributing food resources to active duty military families, veterans, and retired service members in need since 1984. Due to recent cuts in funding for programs that support food banks, the monthly Fleet Reserve Program is now finding it difficult to adequately serve those individuals who are struggling with food insecurity.

To help address this challenge, the Navy League of the United States Channel Island Council is now requesting donations of shelf stable food items ( for example rice, beans, canned vegetables, canned meats or fish, oatmeal, pasta, pasta sauce, etc) to be brought to the donation table at our upcoming General meeting at the Bard Mansion. Our Council members will transport these donations to the Food Program Coordinator for distribution later in the month.
Food donations may also be dropped off at the SeaBee Museum adjacent to the base.
